“We can’t do anything but NOT stop digging!”

There are many wonderful moments that just happen at the museum (one of the joys of working there) and this was one just last week.  Twin brothers had helped out with creating some ornaments for our wreath that will be part of the 12th Annual Christmas Tree Auction this coming Sunday and then went back to exploring in the museum.  They quickly dug into the sand in the “Dig Site” exhibit and were very focused on finding all of the bones that were buried there.  They combined their efforts and mixed their styles and had uncovered about half of them after a few minutes when I heard “we can’t do anything but not stop digging!”  And not stop they did until all six corners and the bottom of the sand box were unearthed and all the bones recovered.

Posted on Oct 20, 2012 in Events, News | 0 comments

Wow – Fall’s finally really here (Monday’s cold storm front made that pretty clear) and the month of October is almost completely over (ghouls and ghosties come out next Wednesday – boy does time fly).  So we thought it a good idea to have a little get together this Saturday, Oct 27th from 11am to 5pm for a little Halloween Fe

stival and Open House at the museum.  The Central Sierra Woodcarvers will be there giving us some demonstrations in relief carving of pumpkins  The Lions Club will be grillin’ some burgers and hotdogs and we’ll have a few arts and crafts available including Spooky Spin art.  There is also planned to be some sweets along with the grilled stuff via a bake sale.  Some come out and enjoy some nice, easy family friendly fun!  Hope to see you there!

Quick note – we are planning on having some pumpkins available for a nominal fee but the quantities may be limited so please plan on B.Y.O.P. (Bring Your Own Pumpkin).

Some additional info here in our earlier release posted by our friend at Sierra News Online.
